Description
This Colt Bisley Single Action Army in .45 Colt is a classic early-production example dating to 1906 by Colt serial number range. Built with the distinctive Bisley grip frame, low-profile wide hammer spur, and wider trigger, this model was designed with a different handling feel than the standard SAA and has long been appreciated by collectors who want something a little less common than a typical Peacemaker.
The revolver features a 4 3/4" barrel, half-moon front sight, two-line Colt barrel address, left-side “Bisley Model .45 Colt” marking, kidney-shaped ejector rod housing, and black gutta percha grips with embossed Rampant Colt panels. Matching serial numbers are observed on the frame, trigger guard, and butt. The Colt Bisley was produced from 1894 to 1912, with approximately 44,350 manufactured, making it an important and collectible branch of the Single Action Army family.
Condition is very good for its age, showing scattered handling marks, rubs, high-edge wear, and holster-type finish loss. The barrel retains roughly half of its blue finish, while the frame retains about 30% case color, mostly in protected areas. The grips are excellent overall with a small chip at the heel of the right grip scale. Mechanically, the action is fine, and the bore shows strong rifling with some mild frosting.
