Description

The Colt Cloverleaf House Revolver stands out as one of the more distinctive and mechanically unique designs of the 19th century. Manufactured in the early 1870s, this antique pocket revolver earned its “Cloverleaf” nickname from its four-shot, clover-shaped cylinder, which housed .41 Rimfire cartridges—a potent chambering for its compact size.

This particular example features a brass frame, spur trigger, 2-7/8" barrel, and walnut bird’s head grips. It is marked “COLT'S HOUSE PISTOL” on top of the barrel, with legends remaining sharp. The barrel and cylinder display a soft gray patina, and though the brass ring shows no remaining original plating, the gun presents very well for its age. The grips are excellent with most of the original varnish, and the bore shows strong rifling with some light black powder erosion. Mechanically, the revolver is in fine working order, making it both a collector’s item and a piece of early Colt innovation.
