USED Colt SP1 AR-15 .223 Remington – Early Pre-Ban Rifle

This Colt SP1 AR-15 is a desirable early commercial Colt chambered in .223 Remington and carrying serial number SP56763. The SP1 represents one of the classic civilian configurations of the platform and is especially recognizable by its fixed stock, fixed carry-handle upper, triangular front sight assembly and period-style furniture.

The lower is clearly marked “COLT AR-15,” “CAL. .223,” “MODEL SP1,” and serial SP56763, with Colt's Hartford, Connecticut markings on the opposite side. This example retains the traditional fixed carry handle and iron sights, fixed buttstock, slim barrel profile and flash hider. A bayonet lug is also present beneath the front sight assembly. A metal magazine and sling are included as photographed.

The rifle shows honest signs of age and handling while presenting very well overall. The finish displays scattered light scratches and wear consistent with an older collectible rifle rather than a recently manufactured example. For the Colt enthusiast, the combination of an early SP-series rifle, classic configuration and recognizable period appearance makes this a particularly interesting collectible.
